Greeting Persons of Quality,

We have found that, contrary to what we first expected, the summer is not the best time to produce an issue of Spoke. Lots of lounging around, battling colds, taking trips, and (finally) editing later… this third edition is ready for your consumption. Good things come to bakers who are patient, and the same can be said of you good Spoke readers! Which is why the theme this time is Cake. Well, that's not really why—truth is, we just really love cake.

You will find loads of super awesome words, images, objects, and funny in this issue. Here at our site is a bonus mp3 for your aural enjoyment, along with all the words, images, and funny you'll find in the mailer (objects cannot transcend the physics of online information exchange— for that visit our Etsy shop).

We want to make sure we thank all those people who opened their hearts, bared their souls, and shared with us their dream cakes. Some of your dreams are unique. We also want to thank Jon Wagenschutz for doing behind-the-scenes work on this issue: thanks!

The next theme we'll be taking on is In Transit. Please please please share with us your thoughts in whatever form they take: visual, aural, verbal, written, humorous, serious—basically, it's open to your interpretation. We can't wait!

Check out the site and be in touch. We hope you love this issue as much as we love cake and you.

Yours, etc.,
annette & elizabeth & kristen
